Psychology - Essay ExampleA child will non survive without the care and support of others. He learns about life sentence and living not only by his own discoveries but with interactions with people around him and within the environment he lives in. Piagets Stages of Cognitive Development outlines how a child develops his learning abilities that equip him to survive lifes challenges. Initially, he discovers the world using his senses, and as he grows, learns to form associations and conclusions. With a healthy chemical bond to significant adults, the child develops a sense of security enabling him to venture into more learning about his world.Piaget believed that children create knowledge through interactions with the environment. Children are not passive receivers of knowledge rather, they actively work at organizing their experience into more and more complex mental structures. (Brewer, 2001, p.6). He insists that children need to use all their cognitive functions. These theories were designed to form minds which can be critical, can verify, and not accept everything they are offered. Such beliefs reflect his respect for childrens thinking.Vygotsky (1978) believed that childrens intellectual maturation is influenced more by social context than by individual experiences. Why some people take risks and some dont Research Paper

Why some concourse waste risks and some dont - Research Paper ExampleThey establish goals for themselves and started working toward achieving those goals. In the way, if they encounter a risky situation, they tend to take the risk rather than retreating from it because they do not want to compromise upon their plans. However, they strive risks with a planned outline so that they ar able to mitigate the risks in case they encounter them. Such people are highly motivated. Motivation is one of the key drivers of the temperament to undertake risks. Motivated people cannot feel comfortable if they retreat from entering a risky situation, if that is what it takes to achieve their goal. A very important characteristic feature of the pro-risk people is that they are optimistic. A pessimistic person places too much emphasis over the possibilities of negative outcomes of a risk and thus feels discouraged to undertake it. People generally are not very optimistic about risks. Daniel Kahem an who has won Nobel Prize explained how the fear of loss is bigger for most people compared to the rapture of gain in these words, For most people, the fear of losing $100 is more intense than the hope of gaining $150. Amos Tversky and I concluded from many such observations that losses loom larger than gains and that people are loss averse (Kaheman cited in Halvorson). ... Taking risk is related to self-actualization. Self-actualization sits at the top of the pyramid proposed by Maslow in his motivational theory, and can be described as the realization of the potential in an individual to fulfill themselves and make optimal use of their capabilities (Maslow 150). Why an individual takes a risk is explained by Maslows hierarchy of needs theory. Maslow categorized all sorts of needs an individual might have into five basic kinds of needs, namely physiological needs, safety needs, revel and belongingness needs, self-esteem needs, and the need of self-actualization (Cherry). Maslow placed these needs on top of each other in the form of a pyramid with the physiological needs forming the habitation and the need to self-actualize at the top. According to Maslow, an individual does not feel a higher level need unless all commence level needs are satisfied. Hence, a person would only feel the need for love and belongingness if their safety needs are addressed. Taking this philosophy, an individual only feels the need to self-actualize when all lower level needs have been addressed. Self-actualization is when an individual takes incentives in order to grow and progress, take chances, as well as risks. Describing the attitude and approach of a self-actualized person, (Wilson) says that such people approach life with newness and even appreciate the experiences they have already had treating them as new. In view of the Maslows hierarchy of needs theory, people that take risks in any aspect of their life have all their basic needs addressed. This suggests that they a re capable of taking risks financially, mentally, emotionally, and physically. There are a run for of factors that may stop a person from being adventurous.

What causes market monopoly Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

What causes market monopoly - Essay ExampleThis is a normal behavior because it works. In general, the government regulation that helps create monopoly conditions falls into one of trio categories Barriers to Labor. Licensing or other regulation impeding the mobility of labor. Barriers to Resources. Examples include natural resources, wireless spectrum. Barriers to Operations. Examples include casino gambling, illegal drug trade. The stated purpose of the legislation is eternally to protect the public, but interested parties usually write the legislation to suit their own agenda. In umpteen cases, the legislation that purported to protect the public actually harms the public. An eccentric is barbers. Why does a barber require a endorse to cut hair, and why does the license to cut hair require a lengthy plosive speech sound in a stunner college? The answer is that the legislation is purely to protect the markets of existing barbers. During hard times, setting up a private barbe rshop or beauty salon is not difficult for anyone with some skill, which presents rivalry to the existing barbers and beauticians. The clip-joint owners went to the state legislature and worked out a partake. It was in the public interest to cut the deal because the state is always worried about taxes and someone who receives cash for knifelike hair in a private shop may forget to support their taxes on the income. Likewise, the clip-joint owners wanted to make sure it was difficult to get into this business, but not so difficult that the labor supply dries up. They wanted limited competition in good times and high barriers to entry in bad times. The solution was to require a license and make the requirements of getting a license be a three to six month course at a beauty college. This is an example of barriers to entry into the labor markets, which we shall discuss. Barriers to Labor Markets As illustrated by the story about the barbershop protection societies, many different g roups set out formed protective associations. The public face of the protective association is always to ensure respect to the highest ethical standards, but the real agenda is always ensuring that their turf is staked out and defended. We shall say now, we have never seen a protective association of theoretical physicists. We have never heard specious claims of how the public must be protected from all that high-powered thinking and the only solution is to license and regulate them. perchance the reason is that not many people are capable of becoming a theoretical physicist. Realtors, however, are a different story. Like barbers and the business of cutting hair, if the market looks good and a person has sales talent, real estate looks good. Especially if that person is a connector who collects contacts and likes to stay in touch with many different people. Realtors are just as intelligent as barbers and they formed a protective association that has been real successful in placi ng a very high barrier to entry into that field. The barrier to entry is so high in many areas that it hurts the public. We shall explain After the realtors protective association convert the state legislature to pass appropriate legislation and license the realtors subject to an industry oversight board with regulatory powers granted by the legislature, along came the Multi itemisation Service (MLS). Now that everyone was a member of the union, the idea was to make it easier for everyone to share pieces of the pie. Few understand this, but it hurts consumers because a disincentive has been created there is no

Companies have claimed that their competitors or other organizations have been using their good deal discern thereby affecting their nocket base as well bas competition. Trade mark dilution refers to the hire of a comparable trade mark by another partnership. However there are misunderstandings as to whether the products registered under the trade mark should be similar or different. In the European Union, courts have ruled otherwise that the use of similar trademarks but different goods under the trade mark does not lead to trade mark dilution1. The European Union has put in place measures to curb dilution of trade marks they ensure that there is no unfair advantage on the use of a trade mark on their p oor quality products that can harm the products reputation and character. The most widespread term applied is known as the protection against free riding on the trade mark. It is also important to note that the unfair advantage in the use of trade mark, blurring and tarnishment are separate together in the same sub article in their laws. In the United States, there is no major link in the application of laws in the midst of dilution protection and unfair advantage over the use of trade mark2. There are three aspects in which dilution differ from other forms of infringement in the European Union. The first aspect selects the confusion in which the consumer cannot differentiate the original trade mark and its usage on other junior products. Secondly, dilution can also involve the use of trade mark on different goods. This differs in traditional forms of protection where the difference in types of goods represented by the same trade mark was not a big issue. It was difficult to act ually show the level of confusion when the goods were dissimilar from those of the senior user of the trade mark. Finally, dilution is generally applied in cases whereby the consumers have a common knowledge of the trade mark and the goods it represent3. The controversy surrounding dilution is based on its differences from confusion based infringement. In Europe as well as in the United States, the focus is on the use of a similar trade mark but with dissimilar goods. Infringement actions twisty situations whereby the goods under the trade mark were similar and thus confusing the consumers4. The Argument The application of anti dilution laws in Europe are more complicated. The formulation of trade mark laws brought about different perspectives in the application of the law. The main concern has been on the unfair advantage enjoyed by the junior users of a trade mark rather that the harm caused to the trade mark. Unfair competition was the main driving force behind the use of tradem arks by other companies. For example, in France, a company had to show that its trade mark suffered harm fro its usage by other companies. However, the use of a trade mark to achieve competitive advantage was also termed as a form of harm to the trade mark. In Germany, a company had to show how it was affected in competition by the use of its trade mark by other competitors. Competition should be understood to mean competition for the trade mark and on situations whereby the junior user of the trademark would use the mark on dissimilar goods5. Article 5(2) of the

Texas - Water Riparian Rights (years 1836-1986) - Essay ExampleThe fragmented institutional structure of riparian water rights constituted obstacles to achieving an efficient and blanket(prenominal) water-resource management system, thus the development of a surface water permit system.A riparian area refers to an area that acts as an interface between land, and a stream or river consequently, riparian water rights refers to the system of allocating water on the basis of riparian land ownership. The Riparian doctrine was introduce in Texas oer 200 years ago by Hispanic settlers in San Antonio, Texas the Hispanic practices and legal principles became the blue print from which land title was granted. During this time, and through the 19th Century, riparian land was granted and the benefits included the right of riparian land owners to take water from the streams and rivers for purposes of irrigation. This can be best demonstrated in the case of Motl v Boyd (1926) the case was about th e rights of Hispanics to take water from streams for irrigation (Rio Grande). In this case, the Supreme Court of Texas decided that the owner of riparian land had the right to use riparian amnionic fluid not only for household and domestic purposes, but for irrigation purposes as well (Hutchins 517).Riparian rights were affected by a couple of artificial and natural challenges starting there was the question of what constituted a river bed, a section of the riparian zone that would be owned by the state. Secondly, there was the question of defining the rivers banks since the bounce was ever changing due to manmade or natural reasons. Drawing on personal experience and theories covered in module, prepare a detailed telephone circuit to a sceptical audience justifying the advantages and effectiveness of group and team performance - Essay ExampleA group can be defined as any number of people who interact with each other, are psychologically aware of each other, perceive themselves to be a group, and purposefully interact towards the achievement of particular goals or aim. (Rollinson & Broadfield, 2008 305) This is the accepted definition of a group which will be used throughout this paper. From this definition it can be seen, as Rollinson and Broadfield point out, that the group will necessarily be small, it does not include the coincidental gathering of people and the goals of the group are formed within it and may not necessarily correspond with the goals which the organization in which the group functions places upon it.The main advantage to working as part of a team is that the whole is great than the sum of the parts. Each member of a team brings their own unique skills and talents and so there is a large pool of resources from which to draw. If harnessed in the recompense way, this can be a formidable force and potentially far more successful than the work of an individual alone. A sceptic might turn over that these different ideas and approaches can lead to conflict, and this is certainly a risk which must be seriously considered when putting together a team. However, by choosing team members which flattery each other and managing the group successfully, these pit falls can be avoided.Rollinson and Broadfield (2008) argue that the key to the success of a group, and the way to avoid the potential issues mentioned above, is cohesion, so that each member works for the good of the group. They note that cohesion tends to be greater in mature groups. If the group can overcome the initial stages of forming and storming, it is seeming that it will achieve long-term cohesion in the normi ng and performing stages. They note that cohesive groups are more productive, more dedicated and tend to suffer slight from issues such as absenteeism. However, they also warn that cohesive groups can in turn

The Territorial Dispute everyplace Dokdo EssayDokdo is also recognized as the Liancourt Rocks. It consists of two piffling rocky islets, which are encircled by 33 lesseneder rocks. The Dokdo islets are situated around 215 kilometers off the eastern border of Korea. The two Islets that make up Dokdo are know as Suhdo and Dongdo. The estimated entire surface area coered by Dokdo is 0. 186 square kilometers. Both rocks that make Dokdo, actually are the remains of a prehistoric volcanic hollow and are a asylum for Petrels and black-tailed gulls and more than a few partially prevalent plants. The Liancourt Rocks is known as Tokto in Korea and it is known as Takeshima in Japan. Sove overtopty over the isles is contested between Japan and South Korea. South Korea has commanded Dokdo since July 1954. Both the Korean and Nipponese names permit altered from time to time. Both of the countries claim an extensive historical and geographical connection with the isles. With this claim, t he question that emerges is that why it is so important that both the countries are fighting for the small islets. The name given to the Dokdo, i. e. Liancourt Rocks has come from the French whaling ship Liancourt, which represented the islets in 1849. The rationale behind this fighting is that both the countries have several concerns regarding the Dokdos border waters and seabed including areas that may embrace some 600 million tons of natural gas. This gas hydrate can become the next periods energy origin. In addition, seafood is also the imperative resource for both the countries. The Korean Japanese ClaimsKoreans claim that Dokdo is an constitutional dominion of Korea as it has been a part of Korean territory since 512 A. D. The first Japanese had written a record on Dokdo and the Records on observations in Onshu have been published in 1667, which admit the fact that Koreans have right over Dokdo. The Japanese declare that they had held Dokdo in the Japanese Empire in 1905. Thi s act of Japanese was opposed by Koreans as they said that Japanese are taking advantage of Koreas political weakness vis-a-vis.Koreans rightfully argue for the Dokdo as at the time when Japan declared that they were containing Dokdo into their empire, Korea was not able to efficaciously protest the Japanese action because Japan had previously taken charge of the foreign matters of Korea by means of the Protectorate Treaty of 1905, which is also known as the Eulsa Treaty or the Second Japan-Korea Agreement. The confirmation of the treaty itself had been impelled on Korea by the Japanese commission, which shows that Japanese were wrong in their claim to Dokdo. All the score of Dokdo and both the countries claims represents the Korean side and also points out that the Japanese did not notify the Korean Government of their claim until 1906. In 1906, Korean officials at both confined and nationwide levels recognized the facts and documented the Japanese action as an encroachment of Kor ean sovereignty. On the other hand, due to the loss of their nations freedom and foreign matters potentiality, no action was taken by them. In 1947, the Japanese Foreign Ministry mentioned the U. S. occupation authorities regarding Japans assert to reign over both Ullung and Dokdo Island.Since then, throughout the peace treaty negotiations, Japan desired to decide U. S. notion pertaining to the island. The Japanese ministers refused Koreas ownership on the bases that there was no existence of the Korean name on the island, which is quite wrong. Japanese also tried to regain the Dokdo during the negotiations of the peace treaty, but they were failed. Dokdos sovereignty was not determined by the peace treaty due to the weaknesses of the president of the Republic of Korea, who did not efficiently concentrated his governments attending on the ownership of Dokdo over Koreas territorial pertains.Government of Korea never daunted to allow for a scholarly study of the Korean historical rec ord on Dokdo and due to this, it had go about an unresolved dispute from Japanese, whereas Japanese had undertaken an extensive study on the history of the island to which Japan had used as the basis for its claim regarding its sovereignty over Dokdo. ascribable to all these weaknesses of Korea, they are not able to prove records in their favor, but all these things do not matter as the truth is this that the Dokdo ownership truly lies in the hands of Koreans.
